Chemring Birdfrite is a 12 gauge projected payload cartridge for use in 12 gauge shotguns to disperse birds effectively at a distance without leaving objectionable Foreign Object Debris (FOD). The projected payload produces a brilliant flash and loud report when it explodes to frighten birds away without injuring them. The combination of the sound frequency and flash intensity is many times more effective than standard shotgun cartridges and many other methods of dispersing flocks of birds for long periods.

Recent improvements to the product include the use of biodegradable plastic for the projected cracker. The use of black powder substitute as the propelling charge for the cracker reduces the incidence of weapon fouling. Chemring Birdfrite can now be used in both choked and unchoked shotgun barrells.
