New Developments - Chemring Australia
The A310 Infrared Illuminating Trip Flare

Chemring Australia is pleased to announce a new development in infrared technology for its A300 series of ground illuminating flares, the A310 Infrared Surface Trip Flare. The A310 Infrared Trip Flare illuminates in the infrared spectrum, providing tactically discrete illumination across a target area.

With minimal visible output produced at the point of initiation (approx 50 candela) when compared to that of the current in service white light trip flare (approx 28,000 candela) the operating signature of the A 310 Infrared Trip Flare is tactically discrete. Illumination within the infrared spectrum is significant, with targets in open terrain able to be identified out to a range of 100 metres when using Night Vision Devices. These characteristics allow the flares to be deployed in scenarios where covert illumination and/or warning of approaching enemy combatants is required.

Other product enhancement initiatives presently underway include the development of an electrically initiated capability across the present range of A100 and A300 products. This will greatly increase the utility of the products within the increasing spectrum of modern military operations. Also under development is a thermite composition grenade for destruction of high value hard targets such as aircraft and vehicles.
