The compact, handheld Pains Wessex Day & Night Distress Signal consists of a red flare at one end, for use at night and an orange smoke at the other, for daytime use.
Housed in a rugged, corrosion-resistant case and protected by end caps with 'O' ring seals, the signal is waterproof to a depth of 30 metres.
A specially designed dive canister has also been developed, allowing the Pains Wessex Day & Night Signal to be taken to a depth of 150 metres and be ready to use should the need arise on surfacing.
The handheld signal has need designed for personal distress signalling and is ideal for divers, windsurfers, dinghy sailors and small boats operating inshore as well as outdoor pursuits such as mountaineering.
Originally designed for naval divers and helicopter/aircrew.
Both ends can be fired independently and the signal can be stowed until required.
